Nifty upbeat, caution if US Treasury Yield trades above 36bps

Indian Market Outlook:
FII continued their buying spree across all segments in the Indian markets after buying worth Rs.16126 Cr in Index Options, worth Rs.9073 Cr in Index Futures and worth Rs.981 Cr in the cash segment in last 6 days. The huge buying of FII and PRO buy in future and options suggests that 8336 are in the cards for Nifty in the coming days. SGX Nifty is trading at 8205 at 8:40 am IST. Nifty is expected to open at same levels i.e. a gap up of 11 points.

International Market Outlook:
China PMI announced today morning came a tad higher at 50.1 from the expectation of 50.0. Crude Oil prices are under pressure on Wednesday morning today's OPEC meeting would set the tone for further price direction for crude. It is expected that the OPEC meeting scheduled on 2nd June would be to decide on the market share for the Oil production countries rather than putting control on the production levels. Moreover, the concerns over the slowing demand from the Chinese economy are pushing crude further down.

U.S. Economic Outlook 2016: GDP, Debt, Inflation, Interest Rates

Economists at the CBO also have forecasted for inflation. They expect inflation, as measured by the personal consumption expenditure index, to stay below the Federal Reserve target of two percent until 2017. The latest numbers, from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, show inflation stood at -0.1%; which means prices are declining. Aren't these numbers scaring you guy's?????. The CBO also have forecasted that stronger hiring in the coming years will reduce unemployment from the current 5.5% to about 5.3% by the end of 2017. The Federal Reserve is more optimistic. Current forecasts call for unemployment to be in the range of 4.8% to a high of 5.1% by the end of 2017.

I mean i don't understand how they forecast such things that makes the situation look so weird. I hope the trump effect comes in to early and we see a new. [link removed]

Bloomberg claimed the efficient oil price for producers

The cost of oil at $50 per barrel, set on Thursday is a good indicator for the oil market inspite of the cost is low for raw materials producers and they are no longer incur losses, Bloomberg informs.

The price $50 is "psychological barrier," said the head of the New York Office of the oil market research Societe Generale Michael Wittner. The article notes that the increase in the cost of a barrel largely contributed to the suspension of supplies of raw materials from Canada and Nigeria, as well as the decline in US production.

However, according to Wittner, even the return of Canadian and Nigerian oil can not exert influence on the market, because oil producers need a higher price to stop the losses increase.

The report of the Analytical Center of Wood Mackenzie Ltd states that the minimum threshold value of oil for the 50 largest world producers of $53 per barrel. At the same American producers, it may need a higher price, and to significantly increase production, said analyst William Foyls.

In his view, after the collapse of prices in August 2015 the company will act more cautiously. Then many of them to invest more in production, as oil prices held above $60 a barrel in August began to trade below $40.

"Many companies, a kind, have been deceived in the past year, now they are more cautious." - Said Foyls.

Should I buy BREXIT?

Hi all,

I am contemplating Brexit and the trading opportunities it might bring. I am anticipating opportunities based on the bias that the price move might reflect the below:

1) The price move will be very large because the event is of high importance
2) The price move might start a short/mid/long-term trend

I understand that there will be a lot of volume in the market around the event and thus to expect volatility. I understand that a good entry with confirmation will be needed, especially once initial spikes have settled.

My understanding is that Brexit will have the following impact on GBP and/or EUR:

BRITAIN OUT: GBP & EUR GO DOWN
BRITAIN IN: GBP & EUR GO UP

I'm operating myself with the bias that Britain are going to stay in the EU. I am not educated to the standard that would constitute an informational bullish bias, but consider the probability of us staying in to be greater than 50% simply because the key stakeholders want to (Britain and the EU).

My expectation is that Brexit could supply a large return if traded well.

1) Should I buy/sell Brexit at all?
2) Is the probability of the major move starting a mid/long-term trend high or worth contemplating?
3) Is my understanding of the impact on Brexit correct or very unlikely?

Photovoltaic Agriculture: Combination of modern agriculture and photovoltaic power

There is no denying that at present solar energy is the safest, most reliable and cleanest natural energy in the world. Photovotaic agriculture, a new agriculture industry, can convert solar energy photovoltaic into electricity and apply to agricultural activities, such as planting, breeding, irrigation and plant diseases. Generally speaking, photovoltaic agriculture plays a significant role in wide applications of modern agriculture and has high ecological and economic benefits.

Several characteristics of current photovoltaic agriculture:
*Emerging technology industry (modern agriculture and photovoltaic power generation)
*Multiple benefits (Power generation, agriculture, ecological improvement and multi functions).
*Save land( stereo use of land with lower cost).
*Transboundary application and capital operation ( an integration of various industrial and commercial entrepreneurs and Internet technology, new energy, modern agriculture and other fields).

Although the theory of photovoltaic agriculture is based on the production mechanism of field crops, it already possesses the features of comprehensiveness, multi-subjects and cross fields. Consequently it needs more extensive research, practice and promotion. Due to high density of China’s city buildings, it’s difficult for photovoltaic power generation to play a role. However, vast vegetable bases, breeding bases and wasteland surfaces break this situation.

Industrial and commercial capital of the enclosure movement will inevitably lead to a large number of landless peasants. Only by involving in the modern agriculture industry and becoming industrial workers, can we in turn promote the urbanization construction and consume surplus labor force, which will benefit the development of economy and domestic demands. Therefore, the modernization of China's agricultural industry is imperative.
As the basis of China’s agriculture, it’ difficult for basic farmland resources to have profound changes in laws and policies in the short term. Inefficient land of agricultural projects is also hard to win the favor of industrial and commercial capital because of poor investment returns. Complementary agricultural system will be the best combination of China's industrialization and modernization of agriculture in the future --- photovoltaic agriculture exactly complies with the market demands. China’s special situation determines photovoltaic agriculture’s practical significance. As a policy guidance, photovoltaic agriculture will not only greatly promote the development of urbanization and agriculture, but also serve as an essential experimental plot to accelerate solving China's "three rural" issues.

For more information about photovoltaic agriculture, you can participate in PV Guangzhou 2016, which will be held in China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou from September 26th to 28th, 2016. Look forward to your appearance sincerely!

Risk reversal rate.

Hi,
Does anyone know where I can get risk reversal rate charts?

Read an interesting piece by Jamie Saettele in the articles section, using this tool for gauging extremes in sentiment.

I can see in the article that he has tradestation charts and I have come across Bantix QuickStrike software, but to be honest both options seem a bit extreme as at this stage I just want to test out a couple of ideas. So don't really want a whole charting package or software suite that will largely be redundant.

Cheers

tradinganalysis.it - Feedback needed

Hello,
I've developed a website providing the following resources:
- To give statistics about the formulas behavior applied to different financial instruments. These statistics are already configured or you could choose to create your customized study in order to get only the needed statistics

- To give statistics about the formulas behavior applied to different financial instruments in order to pinpoint the best levels of stop loss and take profit to use for the analyzed formula on the correspondent financial markets

- To give statistics about the use of different candlesticks patterns applied to different financial market to different time frames

- To identify the best results coming from the statistics about the formulas applied to the financial instruments

- To give signals about different financial markets. The formulas triggering the signals can be already configured or built from you. If you want, also you could choose to receive these signals every day through some periodic subscriptions

- Historical series customization. You could choose to receive signals on historical series with customized time frames (for example 20 minutes, 12 hours, 3 weeksand any other time frame chosen by you provided that it is not inframinute) or backtests based on particular time frames.

- Calculus of the importance about supports and resistances. Some prices rankings show the prices which arose the most number of times as open price, close, max or min into a time period; some rankings are based on the volume exchanged to the different prices in ranking. Through this service it will be easy to identify the value of the studied financial instrument.

Free Tips and Resources for FX Vanilla Options

FX Vanilla Options are not very popular in the retail space despite accounting for a lot of the trades that take place in the interbank by banks.

If you don't know what it is here is some information I looked very hard for a broker that did these as I know the spot market of traded must be done via derivatives due to broker manipulation in the spot market, I tried TD Ameritrade and Options house both in the US and they would not service European clients, so couldn't do I located a Cypriot broker through a friend that offered them in the UK and had FCA cover. They had been around since 2003 so good enough for me. I have used them for coming on 3 years and they are perfect and they offer real Vanilla Options.

In banking most of our products are bespoke so regulation, etc is just a song and dance. So seeing the large spot FX market eating away hard earned coin from traders isn't surprising at all in the absence or inaccessibility of derivatives. I am 100% positive it is impossible to make consistent gains in the FX market without a derivative hedge or outright derivative trade. Many will claim it is possible but it is not in reality, you would be better of buying the asset non-leveraged and holding for a few years. You have a better chance of making money.

The advantage in being an Options trader is I never have to have a stop loss. The broker makes so much money from lost margins that they will always have some kind of algo that will effectively catch stops within a giving range. A broker can clear your stop with 50 pips and it is totally legal.

Volatility is my friend as higher volatility adds value to the Option. Options impact the spot market as most traders and brokers delta hedge in the spot market creating even more volatility that allows the brokers to profit from retail stops and other traders to force prices in the asset to reaching strike. This is similar to the futures market, in relation to the Chinese and Copper and the US and Oil.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjJqQKLi2AM

So derivatives have become the financial weapon of choice by all institutions, so they make money and everyone else doesn't. So the big question is why are so many still playing the broken FX spot markets? Well, I can't answer that, I however think sharing the truth benefits us all. So any questions on Options let me know and this is not binary Options...

Thanks all!

Using volumetric analysis in currencies pairs

Hi guys

I'd like to share with idea about trading based on volumetric analysis. Everyone of us know that volume is too important data to ignore it. When we trade FOREX we can't see true volume. But Forex Market, as well as other markets are controlled by big players. They may be central banks, hedge funds, large multinational companies that operate in different countries. Before we talk about FOREX – you need to understand that each currency has a guide. This is an absolute analog of the currency pair at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). For example, EUR / USD pair has a ticker 6E, CAD / USD pair has a ticker 6C etc.

Since Forex is a decentralized global curb market, respectively there’re no clear criteria for the formation of foreign exchange rates. FOREX operates through a network of financial institutions, each of which may affect the price of the currency as well as its volume. We can’t clearly track the volumes. They will be not correct.

However, most of the big players are also trading on the CME, buying and selling futures contracts, options and other financial instruments. For many, it is more reliable, because the market is governed by laws and regulations, as well as giving more opportunities to trade. And since, according to the rules of the Exchange, all transactions are recorded at the exchange, we can see the volume and see the big players.

When we see volumes on CME it is more easy to predict a price movement. Huge volumes like fuel for price movement. Often price move fast after "loading" by volumes. I show some examples. It's very clear and logical.

TWTR Signals Bigger Move On The Horizon!

TWTR has been in a $1.00 range over the last month. This is the first time in its history it has stayed in such a tight range for so long. Ultimately, whichever way it breaks, history tells us there will be a 30%+ move. The best play here imo is to use options because you can limit your risk if the direction picked is wrong, more profit if you are right. keep this one on watch :)

Tech short time!

Large cap tech has seen some monster gains in the last week. Examples: $AAPL, NFLX. This has me starting to look for shorts there. I will be watching/reading the charts for the exhausted moves that need to take a breather and move lower - its a classic trade. Nothing goes straight up or down! I will post the detailed trades i take to the VerifiedInvesting website live when i enter positions.

As of right now, things should float higher into the weekend as the markets are totally in holiday mode. Light volume. Tomorrow Janet Yellen speaks. Its strange to have her speak b4 a holiday weekend... they want to sneak something in when no one is looking. ;)

Just some thoughts and what I'm looking at there

>1year SB on US Stock?

Been reading a lot about this recently and am wondering if I'm missing something fundamental!

Lets say I own 100 shares in AMZN and the current price is $700.00 a share, any profit made would be subject to CGT @33%.

If I sell those shares and put the 70k in a SB account and open a trade on a December AMZN Future (?) at $1/point I effectively have a position of $70k on the market with 0 leverage used. And any profit is now tax free.

I hold these for 3 years the shares won't cost me much and the rolling over of the SB will cost maybe 6%ish (3 quarter contracts pay a rollover of 0.4% with IG and their spread is 1%ish).

The volatility in both cases would result in the same fluctuations, risk would be the same if you don't put a Stop Loss on the SB.

Seems too simple, surely everyone would be doing this instead of buying and holding shares?

Most efficient way to trade the FTSE

I have a methodology which has been profitable for me over the last year but I wondered if there's a way to trade more efficiently.

I've been using IG Markets and either trading the daily FTSE binary or the FTSE 100 Cash spread bet, taking a position (either long or short) based on their pre-open price and then holding the position until close (or near enough).

Obviously, the binary gives an uneven risk profile (i.e. often the potential loss is greater than the potential gain) and there's a spread, and I lose out a couple of points on the spread bet (although it is only 2 points at the moment).

I just wondered if there's a way of doing this that means me giving up less profit to the broker?

Brokers

Hi,

I need some advice.

I started off trading/investing with an Irish brokerage called Davy.
The are a very average brokerage, would not recommend at all. The are not DMA, and orders placed are done manually if trading on other exchanged outside of UK & Ireland - avoid, unless you want to buy and hold etc.

From here I moved SaxoBank. I am happy so far with SAXO.
- Good platform
- Great execution etc.

I would recommend but the fees for US CFD for too much, 40euro for a round trip.

I am seriously considering transferring my stocks & cash to interactive brokers.

The fees seem unbeatable, but I would like to know you opinion.

Basically what I am looking for is to hold some shares on account (long terms), with dividends reinvested.
& also trade US CFD possibly 5-10 times a week, with level 2 access.

Is interactive brokers a good choice for both scenarios above, long term investing and trading?

Should I open the account in euro or dollar?

Thank you for your time

I have demo traded one of my strategies and now want to start live with it. However, given that it requires patience because it requires 3 or 4 indicators lining up in a certain way, I want to auto trade it. Never done any auto trading it before. Can people please people tell me how complex are these auto trading platforms offered by the major brokers. How many conditions can we set? I just want to set and forget. It trades any time the conditions are met.

Also, is it possible to demo trade auto trading because I want to be sure it doesn't mess up once everything has been initiated.

TidalWave

If your like me you may have found that trading off indicator based systems your succesful trades are wiped out buy whipsaws in the market. If you trade trend indicators you will be whipsawed in sideways markets. If you trade oscilators you recieve false signals when markets are breaking out of ranges this is why I decided to trade price action. If you too have had similar problems were you have experienced good results followed by bad results that offset the good with indicator based entries maybe your ready to try price action.

This trading system is based of the triple screen system. Triple screen states that the market has a tide, a wave, and a ripple, hence the system name derived from tide, and wave creating tidalwave. You can learn more detail about triple screen in Dr. Alexander elders book "trading for a living" if you want to know exact details. We will be trading daily time frames. This will be a strategy where we use SET(stop, entry, target) when we enter. The trade, we will have a stop loss where we believe the trade is no longer valid. The entry is obviously the price we buy at. The target will based on prior price action and where we believe the price will reach.

The first screen the tide, we will monitor the weekly charts and look for a trend or a range. We will take trades on our second screen the daily chart only favored in the direction of the weekly chart, this will eliminate us from trading against the larger trend. The weekly chart will be plotted with the 20SMA and the 50SMA to help us identify the trend and see if they are holding up as potential potential support or resistance. We will also look at trend lines for channels and ranges.

Second screen the waves, will be the daily charts these will show us moves against the tide and will give us the option to jump into the trend at a discounted or wholesale price. Basically we arent going to make the rookie mistakes and chase a trend and get a bad fill, we want the market to come to us. On the second screen we will be waiting for the pair to be reverting to the mean. This is done either through a pull back when the price action returns to one of its moving averages 20SMA, 50SMA or trend lines which ever a trend has been respecting. The second way we wait for the pair to revert to its mean is through consolidation, triangles and bases(tight non volatile sideways range). The consolidation should give the chance for the pairs MA or trend lines to catch up to current price giving us a safer price to enter. The second chart will be charted with moving averages 20SMA and 50SMA and trend lines to show us where the pair is likely to breakout or bounce in a correction. Most of the signals we get will be based off price action but on this chart we will use the MACD histogram to measure momentum, the RSI to potentially confirm overbought or sold signals of the pullback and the ATR(average true range) to help us manage our stops on the trade. We are trading price action so remember signals on the oscilators are only secondary confirmation. Even though this is the second screen we can actually look at this screen first. If we find a tradeable set up we will confirm back on the first screen we are not going against the trend.

The third screen is actually a buy or sell order strategy. In a bull pull back we will buy if the price breaks the prior days high, in a bear pull back we will buy if the price breaks the priors day low our stop loss will be set 10 pips below the days low or the prior days low which ever is lower in a bull pull back and 10 pips above the days high or prior days high which ever is higher in a bear pull back . In a consolidation we will buy once price breaks out of the triangle or base by 10 pips and the stop loss will be 10 pips beyond the break of the triangle in the other direction, in the case of a base the stop loss will be set 10 pips in beyond the range in the opposite direction of the trade.

This system may have some changes made over the course of time for improvement. I will try to update the the system with photos to illustrate and help clarify what pull backs, bases, breakouts and the entries look like. I know the system may sound more involved then one would like, as when we all start trading we hope to find indicators that are the holy grail and they tell us when to buy and sell and are easy to understand but my experience tells me indicators are only good for certain market conditions and if you follow them you will eventually wipe out success by a long string of losses when market changes. Some advantages of price action are we can project targets, unlike waiting for indicators to tell us where to exit. We can project good stop loss points. We can also use these to calculate our risk reward ratio all things hard to do with indicator systems. Trades with risk reward ratios of lesss then 1.5 to 1 will not be taken.

I am going to submit pictures and details of my trades so I will be at the mercy of you guys knowing when im wrong and you will see the results of the system. These trades are actually being done on a demo account now. If you decide this is a style for you I suggest you demo first also even if the results seem quit well.

Free Forex Robot with 40 indicators & 11 candlestick patterns built in

I am sharing my free forex robot that I coded for MetaTrader 4 that has over 40 technical indicator analysis and 11 candlestick patterns built in. You can use it semi-automated for trading signal alerts or fully automated to place and manage trades. It will work on any currency pair and time frame with no limitations at all - it is free forever for your own personal use! There are other features such as trading hours, days, money management, etc. It can be customised to do anything you want it to!

I have included an optimisation guide so maybe share your best results and set files here in this thread and we can see who has the best set files for everyone to use for testing. It works on open prices only so the technical indicator analysis and price action patterns have closed bar confirmation and also means that you can optimise in "open prices only" mode in the MetaTrader 4 strategy tester which makes testing very fast!

Any feedback on my free forex robot is appreciated and I hope that you find it of good use. :)

Thanks,
The Forex Geek.

CFDs and Corporate Actions

Hi,

Recently I have been looking into trading CFDs off the back of corporate actions like rights issues. For example: I notice that when rights are issued that a lot of the time they are tradable. The rights price then fluctuates dependant on a number of factors and I want to know, Is there a way to trade the fluctuations in price in CFD format? Also, if i buy the rights in CFDs can i take part in the rights exercise?

Appreciate your help

Thanks

If you look at the Egle Bulk Shipping $EGLE chart you see that it has a history of long consolidation periods, followed by huge pops. Over the last few months, the big pops have happened almost monthly. If you count the amount of days since the last pop, it is likely the next major move is just days away. Expenses of starting a crowdfunding campaign

Seeing how we hear more and more about equity crowdfunding got me thinking about a specific question - how much money does it cost to raise money? Despite the whole point of crowdfunding being, well, funding your project, you will definitely need some initial capital.

To be clear, I’m not talking about project development expenses, but rather expenses regarding fund raising specifically. Education, building a social network for your offering, creating and keeping the documents, performing required audit and checks, crowdfunding platforms fees, marketing the offering, providing your investors with reports, insurance... All these bring either single or monthly payments cumulatively anywhere from couple thousands bucks up to $30,000. Seeing how some people consider equity crowdfunding a first step to get your project ready and attractive for classic “serious” investors like VCs or angel investors, that’s some large amount of money.

Which in turn raises another question - to which stage of project fundraising does equity crowdfunding really belong? The way I see it now I can’t really answer this question myself. It’s an inconvenient tool to conduct a whole fundraising campaign with (due to numerous requirements and limitations both for investors and entrepreneurs), AND it’s quite exacting regarding the initial expenses to even start raising money. What do you guys think, will equity crowdfunding be able to find its place on the market and become a viable tool?

FX Vanilla Options, the Solution to Criminal Brokers

I am starting this thread in response to the suggestion made on this thread. It appears there is a need.

I was a professional Vanilla Options trader for a number of years. I worked with both Nomura and MS as an FX Options trader. I have done incredibly well from it and for the past 2 years since leaving banking I have been trading Vanilla Options retail, it was very difficult to find in retail understandably most brokers can only handle binary Options as it is a scam. So long and short I eventually found the only broker in the UK with this and 2 years on I pretty happy, a little bit more expensive than interbank Options but the gains show make up for it and it is natural with the risk on Options that the dealer gets compensated fairly.

Anyway, retail brokers have had open season on poor clients who have stops hunted within some 100 pips these days, the average volatility on assets has been cranked up. Most professionals don't trade spot, they trade derivatives, this is a crucial part of trading that leads to guys make lots of money. It is nearly impossible to make money in spot markets, most people are just lying and brokers are doing a fine job of circulating fake statistics. It's all "Fugazi". Real money is made everyday in the futures and Options markets by professionals, they don't want you to know because that will put many brokers out of business as most can't even afford a seat on a real exchange and refuse to offer OTC products that mean that they won't make as much money. Notice TBond futures are rarely available as CFD's. That's because TBond futures are easy to call and a really directional. I am an Options trader, one of my good friends was a Barclays Bond trader and he was making $1,000 a day with roughly $250-$300 risk, he is has made millions on T bond futures.

I can only tell you about Vanilla Options

An Option is a derivative most traders will trade the Option and create a delta hedge in the cash market as necessary. Hence the NY cut is more and more talked about.

Options don't need stop losses as your risk is the premium, that puts an end to be stop hunted. Volatility is your friend, the more volatile the market, the better for you.

Options expire, so you can long date them for time value or short date and look for intrinsic value.

It can also act as insurance and limit losses in the cash market but with various strategies in the Options market like Straddles and Strangles, there is not much point.

Options have there cost built in so naturally the spread is wider, that said once the premium is paid the spread is one off cost, so the broker cannot spread widen something that is the norm in the spot market, imagine no slippage.

These are few reasons why professionals including your broker is active in the Options market making money off you. Time to spark a real debate here. Open your eyes to this. It may be your only saviour.

comments welcome from FX Options traders. The above link takes you as well to this Options school for free, so you can gain some background, it is one of the best sources I found in one place.

I hoping to generate some healthy debate and share experience on this thread on how everyone can start reaping the rewards of trading. No more dreams...

Best Advisory Stockbroker?

Hi everyone,

I've been trading on my own account for almost a year and I'm barely making any real gains. I've decided that I need some help from some professionals out there and think the best route to go down is to invest some money with a stockbroking firm who will show me how to make money. Can anyone suggest any good advisory stockbrokers to go with? I've been contacted by Galvan research and h2o in the past. Has anyone traded with them and made money?

Thank you.

Tesla Motors has raised $1.46 billion

Manufacturer of electric vehicles Tesla Motors has received $1.46 billion after placing another 6.8 million of its own shares on the stock exchange. It was reported by news agency Reuters. This event took place just a day later after the company announced its intention to implement a part of its own shares for a total of $2 billion.
The funds required for Tesla, in order to solve the problem a major expansion of its production: a few days ago the company decided to increase the planned number of machines for the production of 2018 to 500 000 units.

In addition, the Tesla had met with much surpassed all expectations corporate demand for the budget version of its electric vehicle Model 3. In particular, the total number of pre-orders for this modification of the car cost $35k has already reached more than 375,000.

In order to quickly resolve the issue of the increased demand for its products, the Tesla has decided to implement about 10 million shares, including 2.78 million shares owned by Elon Musk.
According to journalists, the placement of shares held at a price of 215 dollars. This is much lower than the cost of an incremental placement of securities of the company in August last year, when it reached 242 dollars. For the current year securities Tesla declined in value by 10%. The maximum value of the value of one share of the company within reach in July last year (286.65 dollars).

The Q Follow Expert Advisor is a unique VertexFX client-side script that provides dynamic placement and tracking of Stop orders and subsequent

handles trailing stops for open positions.

It is primarily used in money management of open positions and placing pending Buy Stop and Sell-Stop orders.

The Expert Advisor first checks for the existence of a Buy Stop pending order. If a pending Buy Stop order does not exist, then it places a Buy Stop

pending order Pipslong pips above the current Ask price. The stop-loss and take-profit of the pending order are set to Stop Loss and Take profit pips

respectively.

However, if a pending Buy Stop order already exists, then it checks the distance between the current Ask price and the entry price of this pending Buy

Stop order. If this distance is more than Pips long pips, then its entry price is modified to the current Ask price plus Pips long pips.

Likewise, if a pending Sell-Stop order does not exist, then it places a Sell-Stop pending order Pips short pips below the current Bid price. The stop-loss

and take-profit of the pending order are set to Stop Loss and Take profit pips respectively.

However, if a pending Sell-Stop order already exists, then it checks the distance between the current Bid price and the entry price of the pending Sell-

MT4 history files

If I understand correctly, data for all timeframes is stored as '.hst' files in one of the MT4 directories.

Does anyone know how to build .hst files for MT4?

I have historical data available from elsewhere that I would like to load into my MT4 - I figure creating/editing a .hst file would be the way to go.

Thanks in advance for any pointers,

Share ISA trading and tax?

Hi everyone :)

I am a full time trader currently trading within my share ISA.

I have grown £10k into £50k in the last 12 months day trading small cap companies listed on LSE, on average I buy and sell one stock a day.

I do not plan to withdraw money into my bank account as I want to build my ISA account substantially, I have however taken a few £1000 out to pay for a few items here and there.

I am unsure on the situation regarding tax is, I know ISAs are tax exempt from CGT and income but as I have built it quite alot I do not want HMRC getting funny.

So I guess my question is do I have to pay any tax if I continue growing my ISA account exponentially? and for hearsay do I even have to pay tax if I started withdrawing monthly amounts to my bank account?

It is all very confusing to me.

Thanks for any help

How to plot OHLC candles in ThinkScript (from TDA ThinkorSwim)

Hello,

I am new to thinkScript and I would like to know how to display OHLC candles using this scripting language. I have searched over and over and could not find the answer.

The script below does plot OHLC prices, but not as single candles, but as simple lines:

plot price_Open = open;
plot price_High = high;
plot price_Low = low;
plot price_Close = close;

What I need is something like this:

plot (price_Open, price_High, price_Low, price_Close);

Unfortunately, this does not work.

I know there is a 'SetPaintingStrategy' instruction, and lots of styles associated with it, but no style for OHLC candles. Most probably I am not looking in the right direction:

PaintingStrategy:
http://ift.tt/22nf4Xx
SetPaintingStrategy:
http://ift.tt/22nf4Xx

In the TradingView.com scripting language you have the 'plotcandle' instruction that plots OHLC candles:

plotcandle(open, high, low, close, title='My Chart')

Thank you,

Alex

What is Nifty

What is Nifty
The word NIFTY originates from 2 words, `National' and 'Fifty'.

NIFTY basically means the index of the 50 most actively traded stocks from across all sectors. NIFTY represents the top stocks of the NSE and when we talk about NIFTY going up, it means that all the heavyweight stocks of NSE across all sectors are moving up.

Most of the stock trading in the country is done through NSE and BSE. There are other stock exchanges as well, like the Calcutta stock exchange, but they are not that popular.

NIFTY consists of top 50 companies from 24 different sectors. NIFTY is computed from the performance of top stocks from different sectors.

Some mutual funds use NIFTY as a benchmark. The performance of the mutual funds is assessed against the performance of the NIFTY. On NSE, Futures and Options are available for trading with the NIFTY as an underlying index.

NIFTY is calculated by using the market capitalization weighted method according to which weights are assigned according to the size of the company. Larger the size, larger the weightage.

4 main factors are to be taken into account when calculating the NIFTY.
The base year is taken as 1995
The base value is set to 1000
NIFTY is based on 50 actively traded stocks of the NSE.
50 top stocks from selected from 24 sectors

Best News Source for breaking news

Hi - last week Gbp/Usd moved strongly on positive news from a Poll on the Remain side of the EU Referendum. These strong moves happen on a regular basis on currencies in general and also Oil.

I'm happy with news sources for scheduled news eg. Forex Factory.

However, I struggle to find the reason for these 'breaking news' unscheduled events that move the market. It would be helpful for trading !.

Can anyone suggest a reasonably reliable source ?.

Thanks...

haven't been on T2W much over the last couple of years, and definitely neglected my old ES Journal.
Let's see if I can keep p with maintaining my new ZB journal

Three fairly simplistic methods, both using Volume Profile (VP) and Order Flow (OF) as confirmation/triggers:

A)
pre-opening Range, 1920pm to 2020pm EST
If the Range is > 17 points, no play today
If the Range is <=17 points, play a breakout from the Open
Target is whatever is the Range
Stop is generally 5 points

B)
my old favourite, Camarilla Pivots (Weekly)
Long at S3
Potential Long/Potential Short at R4 (depends on VP/OF)
Short at R3
Potential Long/Potential Short at S4 (depends on VP/OF)

C)
Long or Short (depends on VP/OF) at '00/32 and '16/32
Target 1 at '08/32 or '24/32 for 8 points
Move second Car to B/E
Target 2 at '00/32 or '16/32 for 16 points
Only just started plying with this, so we'll see how it goes. Might not pan out at all, but back-tests look promising

The oil company Petrobras gets rid of offshore fields

Oil company Petrobras, which is a resident of Brazil, stated that it was going to get rid of all of their assets in offshore zones, due to the low prices for oil markets. In total, oil and gas fields put up for sale at $2 billion. Unnamed sources told Bloomberg, that the conversation is about the three fields - Bauna, Golfinho and Tartaruga. The deal will lead and implement the Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

As soon as rumors leaked to the media, oil and gas fields immediately interested companies such as Petro Rio SA, LetterOne Holdings SA and Karron Gas Australia Ltd. The final decision on the sale of offshore assets, Brazilian Petrobras' management is obliged to take within 90 days.

The company Petrobras is forced to sell their assets offshore because of the low prices for oil markets and because of the corruption scandal, in which the entire top management resigned. After sales of doubtful assets, the new management of the company intends to raise up to $14.4 billion of private investment.

What do you think about the future of this company?

LossLessMA Expert Adviser for VertexFX Trading Platform

Hello We have converted a MT4 Expert LossLessMA for VertexFX termnal its aviliable for free now for all vertexFX terminal users

The Loss Less M A Expert Advisor is a simple yet powerful Vertex F X client-side script that trades market trends based on two moving averages.

It uses a Fast (simple) Moving Average and a Slow (simple) Moving Average to determine the market trends.

When the Fast Moving Average crosses above the Slow Moving Average, it is considered a BULLISH or (BUY) signal, whereas when the Fast Moving Average crosses below the Slow Moving Average it is considered a BEARISH or (SELL) signal.

When the Fast Moving Average crosses above the Slow Moving Average, a BUY or (LONG) trade is opened at market, if the number of already opened trades is below MAX_DEALS. On the contrary, if the Fast Moving Average crosses below the Slow Moving Average, a SELL or (SHORT) trade is opened at market, if the number of already opened trades is below MAX_DEALS.

If the Fast Moving Average is below the Slow Moving Average, then the stop-loss of all open LONG or (BUY) trades is moved to entry price plus spread. On the contrary if the Fast Moving Average is above the Slow Moving Average, then the stop-loss of all open SHORT or (SELL) trades is moved to entry price minus spread.

TRIX Candle indicator for VertexFX Trading Terminal

The TRIX Candle indicator is powerful Vertex F X client-side indicator script that is useful in identifying the direction, strength and the cyclical periods of the market. It is based upon the Triple Exponential Average Also Known as TRIX indicator.

It is made up of two components, namely the bullish TRIX component which is displayed in TEAL colour, and the bearish component which is displayed in DARK PINK colour.

In the first step, we calculate the TRIX Moving Average of the Open price series, over the recent TRIX_PERIOD bars, which we refer to as TrixOpen.
If the value of the current TrixOpenis greater than the previous TrixOpen, it is considered bullish, and the TEAL bullish component value is set to the TrixOpen value.

On the contrary, if the current TrixOpen is lesser the previous TrixOpen, it is considered bearish, and the DARK PINK bearish component value is set to the TrixOpen value. Hence, the bullish TEAL component is always rising, and the bearish DARK PINK component is always falling.

BUY trade can be opened (or a SELL trade exited) when the TRIX candle indicator changes from bearish (DEEP PINK) to bullish (TEAL).

Similarly, SELL trade can be opened (or a BUY trade exited) when the TRIX candle indicator changes from bullish (TEAL) to bearish (DEEP PINK).

My Story

Hi all,

This is my story and thoughts, I am not proficient in trading and anything I state is just borne from my own experience and thoughts - I started trading in August 2015, so now I have been trading and learning for about 10 months and still consider myself as a newbie.

From the word go I started with Elliot Wave, no other knowledge or training involved, I took all my signals from EW providers such as EWI, EWT, EWF etc.

I didn't use, and wasn't really aware of, the concepts of money management, trading psychology, financing positions, or much else to do with trading other than how to place trades using UK spreadbetting.

In 6 weeks I went from zero to hero, from a £3.5K starting account to nearly £40K p/l, I wasn't using stops and I was over leveraged across any one of the 50 markets I was trading (£125 pp at one time), also I was over confident and over trading, I was fitting trading in with a full-time job and holidays, much was suffering, I had no spare time as I was watching the markets and losing sleep checking my phone etc. Yet I was winning, I had calculated how long it would take to pay off my mortgage and was heading for the moon

Then came the mistakes, only 2 trades, the markets changed and I had losing positions, the account went negative and I was adding money from my savings to keep the trades open (using no stops), I was one of the numpties with the illusion that the market would turn in my favour.

I kept this up for 6 weeks before I finally cracked as my funding was too far extended and the financing costs were horrendous, I closed the positions leaving some money in the account to be able to continue trading, but I had lost a good amount of my savings. So now I was on the down coaster and losing more sleep, figuring out how to make up for these losses.

Then guess what - the markets turned in my favour, within a couple of days price was heading towards where my trades were, 2 months later I would have been sitting on the moon

So one blown account and I embarked on one of the steepest learning curves of my life, not just learning about how to trade like a professional would but how to deal with the psychology of the losses I'd sustained. Luckily it was money I could afford to lose, but massively gutted nonetheless and it will take me a while to reach breakeven now.

I have experienced fear, greed and illusion, 3 deadly enemies of successful traders.

So now I have ditched EW and tried many different methods of trading, I have found (so far) a single consistent technical method to make profits that does not interfere with my lifestyle or work and I can concentrate on it, I have discovered that I am a mechanical trader taking technical signals, no discretion, some finesse and a few rules across a select few instruments, for me it's just a numbers game, the statistics over the long term should bear this out. Combine this with the massive lessons I have learnt in psychology, discipline, consistency and money management, it's early days but I hope I will become one of the 5-10% that stay in the game and be profitable even if not full time.

So my advice to any other newbies is, don't rush in, the markets always have opportunities, they vary from 80% ranging to 20% trending, there will be drawdowns, be in it for the long term and expect to grow your account slowly, take some time to understand yourself as a trader and a style that suits you, there are no shortcuts or holy grails, you will need to learn to lose money and dealing with this is one of the keys to becoming successful, have a plan and stick to your rules, find a way of trading that does not disrupt your life too much, beware of snake oil and don't trade with money you really can't afford to lose. The longer you can stay in the game by using money management, discipline and sorting your psychology, the better the chance you will of finding a way of trading to make you money.

And for me at least, I don't even pretend to understand how the markets work (the professional forecasting services show how difficult that can be), that may come in time, but you need to understand how your trading (and the brokers) works first before attempting to understand how the markets are 'manipulated'.

Cheers !

What will be the outcome of next week's G7 Meeting?

It is hard to believe that we are less then a week away from the G7 meetings and I've seen very little in the way of opinion on what the results will be from it.

I'm long USDJPY and EURJPY and feel that the Japanese will weaken its currency within a few weeks of next Friday.

I don't see how the seven countries can prevent another round of "Currency Wars".

How To Invest In A Gold

There are two major ways of investing in gold:
Buy it in physical form
invest in financial products.

There are pros and cons of each type of investment.

The Financial Markets have developed a number of solutions for investment purpose.
Individuals can invest in stock exchange; buy foreign currency; purchase shares of multinational companies.

There are several Financial Products in gold investment. You can buy gold stocks, mining businesses, gold ETFs, gold Mutual Funds in place of bullion or physical precious metal.

You can get all The products through most Brokers and it is very important to consult a professional and conduct your own research to find the best brokers.

Also investing in physical gold in the form of bars and coins is good option. There are merchants who invest in buying and selling through the international exchange.

Another preference to invest in Physical gold without need to worry about keeping it locked in a safety place is to use the gold accounts of banks.

How to hedge currency risk with Interactive Brokers?

Hi guys,

I've got a GBP account with interactive brokers via a Limited company and I've been making some trades in the US markets for the last 3 months or so but in most of the trades I've ended up giving back part of the profit when closing the trade and converting back from USD to GBP.

I've read some comments on the forum about this subject but I didn't manage to see how is this currency risk actually hedged with Interactive Brokers?

For example, if I'm investing £30,000; what is the best way/instrument for hedging the investment against currency fluctuations when buying a USD stock with GBP funds?

Thank you!

What would have happened if this were a real trade?

Hey everyone.

I'm just getting started in trading and so currently practise using a demo account with IG. On Monday I was scanning through stock twits pre-market looking for stocks to trade and discovered that Pfizer had announced they were to buy Anacor pharmaceuticals for $5.2 billion, increasing the share price to $98 or so from the previous days close of around $63. The Anacor price on stock twits had already risen to the 90's pre-market, but when i opened up IG it was still at the closing price of the previous day. I couldn't buy any shares there and then as it hadn't opened yet but i placed an order to open my trade at one point above current price of roughly $63. Ive attached the order below. When the market opened at 09:30 ET the share price rocketed to $93 or so and i closed the deal 'making' over £10k (my position was £3 per point.)

I understand there are lots of differences between paper trading and live, and i'm aware of issues with orders potentially not being filled (I imagine when demand is high like in a situation like this, perhaps?) and slippage. So I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what would likely happen in this scenario if i were trading for real? Would my order be filled? Partially? Would slippage cause much of a difference in sale price? Would I be likely to be able to sell my shares? Would I have been able to buy the shares at that low price after the buyout announcement had been made?

I know there are lots of variables and so a definitive answer is unlikely, but any insight as to what might possibly have happened from anyone with any experience would be greatly appreciated. It can't be that straight forward, i'm convinced

80 ready trading systems that work

How to classify trading systems and markets into types or the step by step automated trade strategy building technology

Once you have your first trading system coded and running you are not very concerned with classification or any logic behind arranging your systems into different types and subtypes simply because there is nothing to sort yet.

Once you have ten or twenty of them you start putting them into some kind of folders, naming them and trying to classify them using some kind of logic and once you have a 100 and over systems you get in trouble if that logic and methodology wasn’t clear and efficient enough to help you now work with what you have created.

I classify systems in accordance to the market type where they can be used but I don’t mean NYSE, NASDAQ, FOREX, GLOBEX etc. I mean that before we classify systems, we need to be able to classify markets.

Mainly, I use two big folders which are trend and flat. So what is the difference?

Let’s discuss this in respect to some kind of price level that we take in a period of time. During trend, once prices break through that level they want to reach new highs or lows away from that level and during flat, prices want to bounce off that level because they have worked out their potential.

Click the image to open in full size.

If, just for an example, we look at this situation in respect to pivot levels we can say that during trend, once prices break though R1 level we expect them to go further up and we expect them to go further down if they break through S1 level, but during flat we will expect them to bounce back to pivot from either of the levels. That can be true for any level which can be considered mathematically as a price magnet – pivots, camarillas, money zone, initial range, woody, Fibonacci etc.

I’m not considering any candle stick pattern situations that can occur at those levels and signal to us what is going on, I’m only stating that for the simplicity of trade system and market type classification, I use two types of behavior at certain levels, either break through or bounce.

So if we are talking about researching this kind of behavior with price reaction to levels we can definitely work out whether the market will work for break through or bounce systems. In this case we can simply run a backtest of both kinds of systems on the same symbol and see which one works better. However we can go into analyzing the market behavior much deeper and try and invent some sort of market tester aka system classifier.

Step 1 – trend or flat

So in order to move on with deeper market type classification you have to decide whether you are going to be trading trend or flat and that means are you going to be buying on potential breakthrough levels or selling.

Pivot levels from above are only an example and to generalize, we can say that there can be market entry signals and it doesn’t matter what they are because certain actions have to be taken when market entry signals occur, depending on whether the system is trading trend or flat globally, the action is one opposite the other, if the market signals buy during trend we buy and sell or short for the same signal during flat.

Step 2 – choose market entry type

In order to analyze the market we are interested in more precisely we need to look into main market entry types.

a) Impulse entry

So what is it psychologically? When an impulse occurs the market reacts. When an impulse occurs during trend a lot of people believe that this impulse will be followed by other impulses and the price movement will carry on. During flat the situation is vice versa, people tend to believe that the impulse has occurred and the price is not very fair now, so they will open positions opposite to the market movement. Ok, but how does it look like? Well here are a few examples of what an impulse signal can be.

Candle pattern – candle closing higher than the previous high (whilst not being a dodji during trend, being a dodji during flat not bad is it).

Price level breakthrough – price channel break through, pivot level break through.

Sharp Indicator movements – sudden DMI crossover or a short period RSI overbought/oversold zone entry (although this kind of entry is better be considered individually).

Relative price movement – the candle price range is higher than the average price range over a set period.

I would say the word speaks for itself, any kind of direct and powerful movement can be considered as an impulse. How do you figure out whether it is powerful and can be considered as an impulse, well you simply compare it to the rest of the movements that took place in a period of time, however you have to be very careful with the period because if you look at many impulses in the same direction over a long period of time you can come up with a trend filter.

So this entry type is pretty straight forward. We can test two types of entries and see which ones work better, trend or flat, if we get a market impulse up during trend we buy if we consider we are in the flat market period we sell during impulse up and buy during impulse down hoping for a bounce off.

Click the image to open in full size.

b) Extra filter

That is where the brain breaking trading philosophy comes into play. Before we move any further and actually speak about the next entry type we need to invent a special filter.

First of all let’s say we are trading trend. This is very easy because in order to filter out our impulse signals we can use a trend filter. Let’s not go very far and just swing an SMA under all the candle stick impulse signals we get, pretty straight forward and actually works pretty well. It doesn’t have to be SMA – any sort of trend filter you invent is just fine.

So now you got them all filtered out because you believe that in order for the market to continue moving in the same direction the overall price movement has to already occur under or over some kind of mean line depending on whether you open shorts or longs. Psychologically this confirms our impulse movement and sets us into some sort of safe mode.

What if you are trading flat?

Now here once you get an impulse you expect the price to come back to where? To the exact same mean that we were talking about during trend. So for example, during flat, if we get an impulse down, we are expecting the price to bounce off and come back to the SMA, so therefore the price has to be below a long period SMA for us to open long positions and buy.

Click the image to open in full size.

c) The pullback

Now this is classic. Especially during trend. So many ways to identify it including the famous Larry Connors technique with Connors RSI. You can also simply swing a faster EMA over a slower EMA to see trend pullbacks. Anyway, during trend you are looking to buy at a lowest possible price inside a price pullback and expect the price to continue to move in the trend direction. In this case you are not looking for an impulse but you are looking for some sort of trend pullback situation.

This is a bit more difficult to picture out during flat but we can try and put it all together step by step. So we were, in a previous market entry type, already buying below our trend filter expecting the prices to come back to that price mean. If we now buy below the trend filter and also buy on pullbacks than this will look like some sort of counter trend system. For example we have a trend up, once we go into pullback zone we open our shorts because we want to make money during a pullback.

Click the image to open in full size.

This is a little different from the same system during trend and it is vital to understand this because that is where you come to think about designing the exit types. During trend we hope the price is going to leave the pullback and continue its way with the trend, so we are trying to catch a turnaround, during flat we are trying to catch the peak in order to make money during the pullback and close our positions if it tries to change direction once a pullback is over. You have a long period slow trend filter that price wise acts like a magnet to attract the pullback and you are looking to enter the market at the start of the pullback and exit in the end.

Click the image to open in full size.

d) The carry on

Finally we can derive a combination of everything that we have just said. This one can be good for adding shares to the position, it can be considered something like jumping onto the ongoing train however it also works as an independent entry type. What happens here is that we wait for an impulse to occur once we have entered the pullback zone.

For a trend situation this looks very straight forward because even psychologically this looks like a confirmation of the trend continuation after a pullback has occurred, it’s like a really careful way to enter the market, because we first get to see an initial impulse, which is then confirmed by a trend filter, at that point we realize that something is going on and wait for a pullback to happen and once it occurs we are not sure, because it might be a turnaround so we wait for another impulse to open positions in the direction of the trend or impulse.

Click the image to open in full size.

For a flat situation this does look a little wicked and I can only think of a few situations when this occurs. Mainly we are talking about catching the second breath before a good quality pullback or a real turnaround. Sometimes the market does it, for example when it wants to turnaround it doesn’t really do it instantly, doesn’t change direction quickly, so it would form a peak and then enter a small pullback which is enough for us to determine on set trade conditions, after which form another peak, which will be our second impulse and we enter with counter trend positions.

Click the image to open in full size.

Entries summary – the 8 types

So overall we came up with four main types on two main markets flat or trend. That gives us eight possible ideas of market behavior. I can’t say they are the only ones out there but this can be a good start for further analysis which can be very creative and include all sorts of other possibilities and ideas. You might have noticed that each market entry type already, inside its philosophy of entry assumes some sort of further price development.

What I mean is that you don’t just enter because you feel like it, there is a strong idea behind every open position and every single entry can be explained, Jesse Livermore maybe said that a long time ago.

Step 3 – Choose your exit type

I guess this part is not as exiting but also involves quite a few methods of how to follow your open positions.

a) Stop and profit – the simplest, the easiest to code, once you have your backtest results and have figured out you win/loss ratio you can easily determine the stop profit ratio.

b) Trail stop – my favorite, price ATR trails, EMA trails, parabolic trails, channel trails, etc. etc. etc.

c) Infinity – just enter long when your exit short and enter short at the same time you exit long, reverse your positions.

d) Time – exit after a set number of bars, exit at the end of the day, period, month, year.

e) Indicator exits – the famous Larry Connors RSI exits, DMI cross exits, EMA cross exits.

Step 4 – Combine

Congratulation, you have just got your rules for 10 more exit variations, 5 for flat and 5 for trend, so overall you can now combine and code each entry type with each exit type on each global market type which makes 40 systems, separate them by position type long and short to get 80.

So now what?

To tell you the truth some of these combinations work pretty good out of the box on some markets. All you have to do is tweak your entry and exit methods a little bit with different order types but mostly I would use this kind of system type enumeration in order to get a feel of the market you are attempting to trade.

Say you want to trade gold, you have never traded gold before so how would you know what kind of system will work best for gold?

Well you can take this article, code 80 types of systems and see which one works the best or you can actually figure out one more option that I can't talk about on this forum))) which can give you a system with 80 combinations we have discussed and and let you optimize this system on your favorite symbol using the code provided to see which combination works the best. Overall that will take 1 minute.

Hope you found this article useful, good luck and have a great trading experience!
