Questions

Hi
I'm currently a high school Senior, and I'm interested in becoming a Stockbroker( my interest is NOT because of Wolf of Wall Street) I'd like to sit at a desk, sell stocks, and make decent money. I had some questions.
1. What are the steps to getting an entry level job as a Stockbroker? Are college rankings as important in the field as they are in IB?
2. Are jobs as a Stockbroker only on Wall Street, or are there such jobs in Dallas and Atlanta? I'd be fine with working on Wall Street, but I'd prefer to work in the South.
3. What does a day in the life of a stockbroker look like? What do the hours look like?
4. Does a Stockbroker get a salary or is it commissions based? What's the starting salary like for an entry level stockbroker in the South and on Wall Street? What does the pay scale look like?( how much does a broker make 10-20 years in)
Thanks!

The tape is like a moving picture film. Every minute of the day it is demonstrating whether supply or demand is the greater. Prices are constantly showing strength or weakness: strength when buyers predominate and weakness when the offerings overpower the buyers. All the various phases from dullness to activity; from strength to weakness; from depression to boom, and from the top of the market down to the bottom – all these are faithfully recorded on the tape. All these movements, small or great, demonstrate the workings of the Law of Supply and Demand. (Richard Wyckoff)

Are conditions ripe for a CHF carry trade?

I read recently that the Swiss tax office is having to stop taxpayers from paying their taxes early. The taxpayers want to do this because they get negative interest rates from leaving the money in the bank. But the tax office doesn't want these negative interest rates either so it refuses the money until it is actually due.

This seems ridiculous and surely it can't last. There must be tremendous temptation for Swiss taxpayers (and other people) to move their money out of CHF to avoid this, in essentially a carry trade based on negative interest rates. The EUR seems the obvious target. Moving CHF into EUR should depreciate the CHF. I note that the euro is indeed appreciating against the CHF, albeit rather slowly. I think this is going to continue so I plan to buy EUR/CHF. Let's see what happens.

AFL Error 61

Hi,

I installed the version 6.10 and an AFL that was working correctly, now has an Error 61:

_N( Title = StrFormat( Colortitle + Name_ + " - " + ColorTF + "{{INTERVAL}}"
+ Colortitle + " - " + DayName + " {{DATE}} Op: %g, Hi: %g, Lo: %g, Close: %g (%.2f%%), Vol: %g " + titlestrL +
" {{VALUES}}", O, H, L, C, SelectedValue( ROC( C, 1 ) ), V, Nz(StoplevelL)*100, Nz(TrailLevelL)*100, Nz(longtrailarray) ) );

File: 'Formulas\Custom\@Buy.afl', Ln: 681, Col: 121
Error 61.
The number of format specifier(s) (%) does not match the number of arguments passed.
Use 'Edit Formula' to correct error"

I checked the code and google, found the help from Amibroker, but I was not able to fix this code. Can someone help me?

Thanks,

Jacare

Mean reversion based strategy

Folks,

I have been messing around during the quiet periods with a mean reverting strategy which is showing some interesting results.

The question I have is whether you take trades in both directions, particularly if there is good evidence of a trend on a higher timeframe.

Answers on a postcard.

Love

robster
