Shapes of my profit. Diary of success.

Welcome to my journal. For you readers, I will be happy to share my experience. I know that it is very important for a trader - to get a priceless experience. I will try to do everything so that your time here has been spent with maximum benefit.
In addition, I'm looking for investors in my pamm and partners for attraction.:D

Briefly about my account. I have been trading for almost 2 years at this account. I have the ability to trade intraday and long-term trends. Therefore, I use the theory of trend and trend indicators. And also, I know enough about the candlestick analysis and patterns in the forex market, that allows to expand range of possibilities. At the same time, I do not like the dangerous trade. I respect the psychology of forex and adhere to its rules. In keeping with my plan, I go to my target.

Let's go!

Here's a chart account profitability and last trades.

Hi Guys - 25 year Old Brit fed up off losing money here...

Hi Guys,

1st off all sorry for the username - Its a name i've been using for approx 10 years now and i'vestuck with it, Its comes from the fact my names Will and that im Big/Fat. Not the other thing - ask my wife!!! Anyway, I'm 25, Married and looking to supplement my income.

Anyway, so far ive got a few stocks going and its not going well, due to Brexit maybe but i feel i'm missing something. Ive been using iPhone apps (GetStocks & TDInvesting) for my trading thus far which seems to off been a mistake and im now looking for advice on making sure my next step is the correct one.

My big questions is who can recommend a good beginner Broker/Platform combo for my MacBook? Maybe using Parallels if necessary.
I'd prefer it to be a UK based firm as i have a complicated tax scenario (Seafairer + Rental Property) and i'm aiming for Futures only at the moment.

PS i have tried the search feature!

Thanks Guys

Bobby Charlton was asked today how he thought England's 1966 World Cup winning team would do playing against Iceland.

"We'd win 1-0" said Bobby

"Only 1-0" said the commentator "surely more than that!"

Good trending market

Can anyone recommend another good trending market? I'm currently using a very simple MACD strategy on the DOW and its working ok, however it doesn't seem to perform so well on other markets, I've looked at the DAX, EURUSD, and Gold but none perform as well.

Hi, have just come across this guy on

The video shows him day trading the DAX, successfully. There are no explanations and no request for money. It seems what ever his methodology, it is working very well. Does anyone know anything about this apparent genius?

How Brexit influences UK banking sector?

Brexit is a highly discussed topic, but I would like to specify its influence on UK banking sector. As someone said Brexit is “a leap into uncertainty”. This thesis has been improved by today’s trading activity in the market. Top 5 UK banks have plunged steadily: Lloyds, Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays, Standard Chartered and HSBC are down 25%, 23%, 22% 10%, 8% respectively. We may conclude that the vote to leave the EU was a real surprise to the market. I have filtered out major financial news on these banks and can summarize that there are 5 main reasons of such plunge:

1. Expected decline in house prices by by 10-18% (will influence such banks as Lloyds with big asset allocations in mortgages);
2. Increase in non-performing loans which will be led by pound depreciation;
3. Possibility of rate hike to the monetary shock;
4. Insertanty in trade terms with EU;
5. A threat of a next big recession.

I would like to hear your opinions on the topic. Is market overpriced above treats and this is a good time to pick up banking sector assets or this is only begining of further contraction?

Audit risk from day trading?

I'm somewhat new to day trading, but I've made decent returns by trading ETFs on Robinhood.

My accountant has warned me that daytrading increases my risk of an audit by the IRS, simply because of the sheer number of trades and possible discrepancies in how a trade is classified (apparently there is short term, long term, and everything in between). Over the course of 8 months I've conducted maybe 30 trades.

Is the risk of an audit realistic or is my accountant just trying to avoid the extra work of computing the tax owed on each of these trades? I'm a little bit suspicious because 1) my accountant hadn't even heard of Robinhood, and 2) he has said in years past not to reinvest dividends in stock because the "math is too hard."

What do you guys think?

Its time to buy Apple and Microsoft, what do you think?

All, as per my observations it is the time to buy Apple and Microsoft now. If you buy now, just wait till profitability, because, they will defensively appreciate in less than 14 days.

what do you see?

It's the DoTick line called DowGap.

What's causing it is that I used another, working file (for DAX) as a template, changed the inputs like time and stops to fit for DOW, changed all instances of "DaxGap" on the file from to "DowGap".

DaxGap works fine as always, DowGap won't compile. Why am I getting this error? And how do I fix it?

Smoking That Big Burrito For Profits! $CMG That Is :)

Great title right? I made myself laugh with that one lol. What can I say, I enjoy eating at Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (NYSE:CMG), and yes it is close to an orgasmic taste. However, I am here to talk about how I have made 25K in the last month on stock swing trades and how the chart on Chipotle $CMG is a perfect buy setup.

Simply put, notice on the chart how CMG was breaking out dramatically to the upside before the #Brexit vote hit the markets hard. Then, also notice how even with an almost 1000 point sell-off on the Dow Jones Industrial Average, #Chipotle Mexican Grill did not even take out the recent lows. These are extremely bullish signals. About three weeks ago there was a bottoming tail on the stock. That is still 100% valid as it has never been negated. Bottom line is, as long as there is no daily close on the stock below $385, it is a screaming buy. The upside target on CMG is $420 (talk about smoking a massive burrito!). lol

Hypnosis for traders

Has anyone tried using NLP/Hypnosis for improving their trading performance ?

Recently came across two products on this subject. One was a book by UK based coach, Catherine Stott, who has written a book, Hypnotrading. She seems to have some tracks on her site for traders. I am interested in some feedback.

Kam Dhadwar is another well known trader who seems to be using NLP for developing an optimum trading mindset.

Another interesting product is a subliminal track by Talmadge Harper, titled Unleash the stock trading genius. Talmadge is a professional hypnotist, not a trader. He seems to have a lot of positive testimonials for his hypnosis tracks, especially what he calls "ultra deep relaxation" which was developed in 1980's by Walter Sichort.

Would be great if others can share their experiences if they have tried using these methods.

( sorry, didn't realise there is already a thread in the General Chat section called, Hypnotherapy for traders. Is it possible to delete this topic so I could post in an already existing thread.)

Which brokerages might be best for short funded traders?

Since originally I wasn't really asking for a brokerage review, I posted questions about this in the regular Stocks forum but didn't receive any responses so I though it might be better to post about it here.

Have any short funded traders out there had any success obtaining margin from US brokerages? Or are there any experienced traders or people in the industry out there who can advise me on this?

I think my financials are pretty good. However, after looking around at a few brokerages (IB and Fidelity Investments as a couple of examples) it seems that many of them do not want to deal with you unless you are already wealthy or extremely well funded (>$20,000 or even >$100,000 in cash available). Obviously no company should consider providing margin trading privileges to any trader without a vetting process in place. But if you have to be well off before they will permit you to trade with margin I don't quite understand the point of having very low minimum deposit requirements (as many brokerages do) for opening such accounts. And if they are attempting to appeal to newer traders, why would anyone that well off need to become an active trader in the first place? My point is that there must be brokerages out there willing to work with shorter funded traders, people who already making a living doing other things but who would also like to make money trading/investing.

My other post including my details can be found here:

http://ift.tt/28XX3cv

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Any views on this, their currency is too strong for an economy that is so reliant on exports. Surely the BOJ has to intervene soon? Once GBP/USD finds it bottom, I make look for a buy and hold on GBP/JPY.

Brexit keeps killing the US market, should I be worried?

It is the second trading day today after Britons voting to leave the European Union and US stock market is still going down. How long will it take to pull back? I am not sure if anyone has a proper answer for it.

At situations like this, people start panicking and start selling their stock as if the market will never pull back. Many of them are right due their decisions to buy well performing stocks at peeks, but not all of them.

Well, should I be worried? For me, no, I do not need to worry as I never buy high flying stocks. So I feel very safe in situations like this as I know my stocks will pull back soon. Its just a matter time,...

I think we all should adopt at least basic value investing ideas by Benjamin Graham even if you are very enthusiastic about technical analysis like myself.

I believe that is a valuable lesson for new comers here.

I am sorry that I do not talk about markets other than stocks, but its simply because my knowledge is limited to stocks.

Brexit - Will it be ratified?

Brexit - Will it be ratified?

Brexit: Is it only a stepdown or a meltdown?

First, we should fully respect the British choice which came as a results of the voters' beliefs. These voters may not economic specialists or markets specialists but they are specialists in their benefits.
The split was not also an accident. it has been the normal ending of series of exceptional situations of UK which could not find a way to lead the EU.
So, its choice to have always special case in EU was always its way to live in EU.
It was not the refugees matter only, the sterling, the financial policies, The EU leaders nominations or... it was really the normal ending of UK membership in EU.
But now after UK has said its word, the turn now is on EU. I wait now to hear from Merkel and Hollande that "it is to be strong EU or not to be".
I want to hear from them that we will go on strongly and the days will prove that we are right and our will to be united is vital for us all and it is not the end of EU to watch UK out of it.
Building on these beliefs can prevent financial meltdown in EU markets and also other related markets and can also reinforce the EU political situation which is facing critical period, After losing EU.
The political reaction is very important at this moment after ending of long period of watching, while any monetary or financial action can only be temporary.
France which has direct trade lines with UK can face now considerable negative economic implications because of the Brexit, while Germany can find no way but to give more concessions to lead EU economically.
While UK finds itself in an early stage to initiate policies of its new trade relationships with EU and other farer parts of the world on its new control to keep its factories running competing EU.
It's a thing as it is easy as it is complicated for UK.

Anyway, I wait to hear from Merkel and Hollande, before predicting anything.

Brexit Remain Rage

Is this an entirely new phenomenon? Perhaps this might be the new democracy whereby those in charge just keep making you vote until they get the answer that is required. It's really rather frightening that there are people in authority who advocate this. I suppose in some ways this is what we do in trading – don't like the way it's moving? Well, just back out and have another go! – But that's a personal decision that affects only your own wallet.

I listen with incredulity at some of the morons on the radio who now say they didn't really want to Brexit even though they voted to do so – until now I couldn't believe there are people that stupid.

Corbyn to go

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has announced a new cabinet following a wave of resignations in protest at his leadership and amid calls to resign.

Mr Corbyn lost 12 of his shadow cabinet on Sunday and five shadow ministers on Monday - with most criticising his performance in the EU referendum.

Mr Corbyn said he regretted the walkouts but pledged to stand in any new leadership election.

Labour MPs are due to discuss a no confidence motion against Mr Corbyn.

The shadow cabinet shake-up sees Emily Thornberry - who on Sunday gave her backing to Mr Corbyn - moved from shadow defence secretary to shadow foreign secretary, replacing Hilary Benn who was sacked at the weekend.

Meanwhile, Diane Abbott - an ally of the Labour leader - has been promoted from shadow international development secretary to shadow health secretary, a position vacated by Heidi Alexander's resignation.

The new appointments include:
◾Shadow foreign secretary - Emily Thornberry
◾Shadow health secretary - Diane Abbott
◾Shadow education secretary - Pat Glass
◾Shadow transport secretary - Andy McDonald
◾Shadow defence secretary - Clive Lewis
◾Shadow chief secretary to the Treasury - Rebecca Long-Bailey
◾Shadow international development secretary - Kate Osamor
◾Shadow environment food and rural affairs secretary - Rachel Maskell
◾Shadow voter engagement and youth affairs - Cat Smith
◾Shadow Northern Ireland secretary - Dave Anderson

The latest frontbench resignations came on Monday, by shadow foreign minister Diana Johnson, shadow civil society minister Anna Turley, shadow defence minister Toby Perkins, Wayne David, the shadow Cabinet Office, Scotland and justice minister and shadow consumer affairs and science minister Yvonne Fovargue.

Stephen Kinnock, a parliamentary aide to shadow business secretary Angela Eagle, has also quit, citing Jeremy Corbyn's "half-hearted and lacklustre role" in the EU campaign.

The most important thing in trading

I was hearing an interview with psychologist Brett Steenbarger and it was an eye opener.

Trading is extremely hard and it has to be. ¿Why to make the hard job of create business, hire people and deal with customers if trading was easier?

The great difficulty in trading is to find an objective edge in the markets. And yes you need the psychology to maximize the profits from your edge and money management to not blow up and compound, etc.
But without an edge all that is worthless.
Not having an edge also creates psychological troubles.

That's why internet marketers sell psychology courses, because that's easier than find an edge in markets.

Another point is that markets evolve with the time and you can lose your edge at any moment. So you need to innovate and adjust to new market conditions. Or find new markets.

Too many bulls for gold to hit 1400

Hi all, its my first post on this forum.. Ive been trading for a couple of years and really knuckled down hard this past year.

Anyway..

So regarding gold, in these post brexit conditions. With all this uncertainty id be fairly sure gold with silver tagging along would hit 1400 by weeks end. However if this week is as predictable as Friday with so many obvious bull markets im not sure it will. I wouldn't be surprised if it does go from 1315 to maybe 1345 within the first 6-12 hours after open but if like Friday there's clear bull markets the money might not be in gold therefore pull back as traders take profit and put their money into other trades. Whilst under any circumstance i do not expect gold to lose anything by close Friday im not sure its going to be as highly profitable as it could be.

If the market opens and its all over the place id expect gold to make big gains Monday through Wednesday, pull back a bit then reach 1400 by close Friday.

exciting times ahead indeed.. after Friday i wanted to share my thoughts with others and see what they think. Good luck this week and make some money, Be wary of the Bank of England especially dumping 500 billion into the market and causing some weirdness.

Brexit could seriously hurt automobile and tourism industries

All, I came across many such articles and I personally believe in it too. So think it is better to be careful, specially if you are new to trading.

However, this sounds like a good opportunity for professional traders with experience during volatile periods and specially for value investors if you really know what you are doing.

But the users here in this section of the forum, I think red lights are on!

Market making

I'm not sure this is the correct place to ask but I'd like to know how market makers make money in big down days like we've had this week. They provide liquidity to the market and the next second they're already taking PnL losses. Are the expectations that days like this are not for making money and only to help their clients in the tough markets, in the hope that this keeps the relationship ongoing?

Brokerage/Margin Advice for a Short Funded Trader

Hello, I am a US stock trader and have been trading since 2009. I am relatively short funded and have traded without margin but I'm trying to obtain margin to build my account and increase the number of trading opportunities available to me. Recently my application for margin with my current brokerage (Fidelity Investments) was rejected. I was hoping someone with more experience could recommend a brokerage that might be more likely to grant me a margin account given my current circumstances?

I'm worried that multiple requests for margin through different brokerages would damage my credit and of course it takes time moving money around between brokerages to make such requests so I'm really hoping someone here will be able to advise me. FYI, I'm comfortable with my current trading approach and have no interest in trading with borrowed money but need to circumvent the T+3 rule and to be able to short stock in order to reasonably increase my profitability.

So here is my situation:

At the time of my application I held $9,500 in my account. I held $4,200 in revolving (credit card) balances out of a total of $18,200 in available credit. From wage based income I'm generating $34,000 in income annually and from that about $1,100 to $1,200 per month in available free cash flow (after expenses and taxes have been paid). My credit score is 765. Despite having given Fidelity $600 to $800 per month in commissions in the past and having obtained a negotiated rate with them and access to all of their trading software they have still refused to grant me margin for my account. Apparently, I must be rather wealthy to pass the bar for Fidelity. What are my available options from a brokerage standpoint?

I know that I could continue to build the account and trade with cash while trading with smaller amounts to give myself more trading capacity in any given week but in doing so I'm having to lose out on any potential short trades which is a huge hit for me. And words cannot express how frustrating it is to have to sit back and watch so many profitable trades pass me by, year after year, due to the crippling combination of T+3 limitations and no short trade availability.

I am willing to pay more for commissions but require access to time and sales and Level II data. I am a discretionary, momentum trader a la Mr. Charts.

The brokerages on my current list are:

TD Ameritrade, ETrade, Scottrade, ChoiceTrade

Can anyone out there advise me regarding margin with any of these or other brokerages? Or has anyone else out there been able to obtain margin under similar circumstances?

Thanks to anyone who can help as well as to everyone else who has contributed to this forum over the years. I have been lurking here and there for some time and it truly is a gold mine.

Airline stocks ready to pop! Check out how I'm going to trade it...

United Continental Holdings UAL is on its 4th day of bullish consolidation. This pattern formation occurs when a stock pops higher, then goes sideways for a period of time in a tight range. I have seen it numerous times and it does have a high success rate when read correctly :)

Note the chart below as that exact pattern is forming. This also may signal a drop in oil prices coming in the next week or two. Lower oil is often times a positive for the airlines. ohh I love it!!

Do leveraged ETFs, ETFs in general, affect the underlying indexes?

If everybody piled into a leveraged S&P ETF like SPXL, for example, does that affect the S&P? And does that affect the S&P's constituents?

Does it matter that overbuying SPXL still wouldn't make it deviate from 3X SPY? Are leveraged ETFS subject to the same ideas of supply and demand?

A petition to expand Regulation A+ to allow SEC Reporting Companies utilize it

OTC Markets Group has recently filed a petition for SEC as a step of their fight on behalf of smaller SEC reporting companies. OTC’s also provided a quick summary:
  • In March 2015, the SEC published the rules for implementing Title IV of the JOBS Act, known as Reg. A+, giving small companies the ability to use online offerings to raise up to $50 million from individual investors;
  • As implemented these rules exclude all SEC Reporting Companies from accessing capital online under Reg. A+;
  • The SEC missed an important opportunity to drive small company growth and limited the tangible benefits of Reg. A+ for investors;
  • Online securities offerings under Reg. A+ provide significant investor protection including a permanent record, or audit trail, of disclosures made to potential investors;
  • SEC Reporting Companies already meet the SEC’s high standards for disclosure;
  • Transparent, public, online capital raising better serves smaller companies and their investors vs. the opaque, offline private offering processes of PIPES deals and equity lines of credit;
  • Online securities offerings will expand access to a greater pool of better informed investors and lower the cost of capital raising.

What do you think, will it be enough to convince SEC? Should we expect equity crowdfunding to become more available for smaller companies? I’ve seen projects suffering from being unauthorized to use whole set of features brought by Reg A - they’d be happy to have this petition approved.

Question about exit strategy?

Im just starting to get into stocks and daytrading and I have been reading up on all the basics.

Quick question, if I buy shares in a stock, do I wait to see if it goes up then put in a stop loss or stop limit order when I sell it to protect my losses or ensure a profit , or do I do that right after I buy the stock to protect my losses in case the stock does the opposite of what I expected and goes down? Any help is appreciated.

Urgent help needed in ploting Date in Metastock Exploration

Hello everybody:)
I am Deepak and would seek your help in creating an exploration indicator which tells the Low or High date in mm-dd-yyy format.

For eg if I run an exploration of 20 stocks I would want to know in the given year say 2015 which day-month-year did it make its 52 wk low.
I want to copy this data in excel and not plot it on a stock chart.

I have tried the MS indicator builder list under: tools-->The Explorer--->New
Year's Hi/Lo dates
AND
High/Low of Date Period
All the indicators under this list have been unable to provide me the desired details.

for eg I set the period for exploration as 2015 daily and load 250 records (which is the total trading days) and take for eg XXX Ltd then when I run an exploration it should show
Close(52wk low) Date (date of the low)
24.95 240915

Hence please help I would be very thankful to you.

Update for SGX Traders :SGX says 'death spiral' bonds need shareholders' approvel

SINGAPORE (June 21): A company that wants to issue so-called "death spiral" convertible bonds have to obtain shareholders' approval if these bonds can be converted at a discount of more than 10% to its price or the new shares exceeds 20% of issued shares, Singapore Exchange says.

The regulator was responding to The Edge Singapore's queries on regulatory safeguards for shareholders of companies issuing these massively dilutive redeemable convertible bonds.

Alternative & strange trading methods

Well we all know about trends, RSI, Moving averages etc. Probably tried a good many and failed so what's left ? Either pack it in or try the wackier methods.

One I tried was to copy the Romans ( they knew a thing or two ) and use nature. To be more precise watch the flight of birds when you have an instrument in mind. Take the next bird you see in the park or elsewhere. If it flies left to right then long and vice versa.

Rope in your pet to help out. Set the rules yourself and observe.

Have you got an unusual one ?

My options-only portfolio

I've had an affinity to options ever since high school which--man, that was twenty years ago. I've dabbled in options in the past but without an actual focus or objective. However, this changed about a month ago. In May of this year, I decided to allocate $100,000 towards an options-only portfolio.

I've generally been a buy-and-hold investor primarily to avoid triggering a taxable event. It gets boring at times, although I can't complain about the returns. However, I'd like to be more engaged in the market and a 'fun' portfolio would fit the bill. An example of this has been the past couple of weeks. My core portfolio is down several multiples of the gains from my options portfolio, but I'm pleased as punch that my options portfolio made a few thousand dollars.

I've already started a blog to journal my trades, but would like to engage this forum community to provide thoughts on the overall strategy (generally +theta, -gamma, delta neutral) and position sizing from a portfolio risk perspective.

Portfolio objective: 15% p.a.
Journal objective: Reflect on successes and failures with your feedback

I look forward to your input throughout.

Trading US equities from the UK

Hello all

Fairly new and am now looking to move to the US markets so any advice on this would be highly appreciated. Can't seem to find much on this from a newbue perspective. Keen to hear any experiences of starting with the US equities and all it involves.

Bit confused on a few things:

-are you better off registering with a US broker, wiring over funds and trading in USD rather than using a UK broker? Any opinions on which brokers? Have come across a few but I am certain there are more.
-anyone use trade station? Only ask as they offer an all in one platform with execution and I would be keen to try this out
-anyone use a single platform to trade both UK and US equites preferably with execution? or at the least with real time data?
-best way to trade on both sides of the pond...

Many thanks for any input.

"Bremain" Pulls Global Markets Up, India Down On Rajan's Decision

Indian Market Outlook:
Nifty is expected to open 75 points gap down at 8099, as per SGX at 8:00 am IST. The FII and Pro are still on the sell side of the market as indicated from the open interest data below. In last 5 days they have sold 41 Lakh shares in Index Futures and 1.67cr share in Index options. Indian markets would remain under pressure as RBI chief Rajan confirms his stepping down from his post at the end of his term in September. However Upbeat international markets might pull Nifty upwards.

International Market Outlook:
After the murder of UK MP Joe Cox the campaigning around BREXIT was close in Britain for last 2 days. The latest polls show a shifting interest towards the "Remain" group. The international markets are opening upbeat with S&P Futures trading at 2080 today morning near its recent high of 2086. Similar move has been seen in the Asian peers where Nikkei opened gap up and trading at 15943 after making a high of 16035. Its recent high was 16082. GBP has given a breakout and risen 600 ticks from its lows signaling strength in the markets.

Brokerage commission clarification - Help needed

I'm going to open an account with Saxo Capital Markets but I want to make sure that I understand how their commission structure works since it seems much, much cheaper than the other local firms in my country.

Here's the link, feel free to check it out. (I put the UK version on purpose, Turkish version is the same for Nasdaq and NYSE)

It says "flat free threshold" is 1000 shares and equals to $6 for Nasdaq and NYSE stocks, does this mean I'm going to pay only $6 if I place an order for 900 shares and I'm going to get charged only 0.7 cents per share ($10.5) if I place a new order for 15000 shares later?

Fix Desktop Shortcuts on small display devices running Windows 8.1

This is way off topic but it may make someone's life easier. I have a HP 7 Stream with Windows 8.1 and it has to me a very annoying working such that it ignores all Desktop Shortcuts that are set to open in "Normal window" and instead opens them "Maximized". I was so ticked at this that a friend and I wrote a simple program to pretty much make the Desktop Shortcuts act normally. This was done by Microsoft to only small display units with little memory specifically

http://ift.tt/1V2aKH4 says:

You have a device that is running Windows 8.1 that meets the following criteria:
The Windows 8.1 Update (KB2919355) is installed.
The device has a screen size of less than 10 inches.
The device has 1 gigabyte (GB) of memory or less.
If any of you would be interested in the program it can be obtained at

Is my system too simple?

Hi, Long time lurker here.

I'd like my advice on my system.

I have demo traded for 4 months, then went live with £4,000 (spread betting). And i have made a consistent profit every week.

The system is basically as follows.

I watch the m1 chart on the DAX and look for pin bars that swing out out the current range or trend. I then trade them in the standard pin bar fashion. Trade the break. Stop loss 1 point just below/above the tail.

And that's it, I don't look at other time frames, no indicators, no support and resistance, no trend lines, no MA's fibs or key levels. literally nothing else. With the exception of not trading around news.

My risk management is a follows.

Risk 1% (£40) per trade
4 losing trades in a row and thats it for the day
If the pin requires more then a 10 point stop, no trade.
Exit at around 6/7 pips. (trades rarely last longer then 2 minutes)

Thats it.

-------------------------------------

I've made £6,287 i'm 4 months, which is roughly £80 a day.

Is this luck? I'm i trading favourable marketing conditions.?

Don't get me wrong, i'm not new to trading, I've been chewed up and spat out by the markets a number of times. Mostly due to losing my cool and staring gambling rather then trading.

Eventually I changed the way i think about trading. I stopped thinking about the money and thought only about my plan.

Win or lose, i want to be able to look at myself in the mirror at the end of each day and say "Today i did not make a mistake. Today i did not break my rules"

But I still lack confidence in my system. It very basic, is this going to come tumbling down? I go onto Forex factory and read other peoples systems and i just get lost in the terminology and complexity of it all.

Do I quit while i'm ahead? I read often that traders will make money at first and then lose it all.

Jo Cox MP - RIP

Regardless of political persuasion, this truly is a tragic event and the first MP to have been killed in office since 1990. A promising young MP with a likely future ministerial career ahead and with two young children of only 3 and 5 years old.

I have to admire her husband who was quoted as saying:

Quote:

.....fight against the hatred that killed her. Hate doesn't have a creed, race or religion, it is poisonous

Bond yields hit low, now I expect a bounce, this is why...

The 10 year bond yield hit a low close to 1.50% today. It has been in a downward spiral since expectations for the Federal Reserve to not raise interest rates in June began to decline weeks ago, following a poor Non Farm Payrolls number. It all hit a climax yesterday when the Federal Reserve confirmed they would not raise rates and lowered overall expectations for future rate hikes. When trading, it is important to remember that the market prices things in, ultimately when something does occur that was being priced in, you get a knee jerk conclusion move and then the bottom is in. This is likely what happened yesterday and this morning with yields. They flushed on the actual Federal Reserve non action but because they were already so oversold and expecting the news, a low is likely in place. Notice the chart below on the ProShares UltraShort Lehman 20+ Yr (NYSEARCA:TBT). Notice how there is a long tail on it. TBT trades with yields so it tells us yields are starting to bounce. Also, note how oversold it is in the last 2 weeks. A technical bounce is likely and a bottoming tail today would be a great signal of it coming. Bottoming tails are bullish. I don't just talk ;) I post my trades live and verify them on VerifiedInvesting...

Brexit odds at bookies vs polls vs trade

Why are the odds for Brexit so different at the bookies compared to the polls?

I mostly think the bookies are a better way of finding out the odds of political issues, because it's people actually putting money where there mouths are.

However, could this be the case with Brexit:

The payout for Brexit-vote is 2.8 (36% chance)... for Remain 1.55 (64%), while polls are 50:50..
Does this merely reflect the move in financial markets after the vote?

So, the move after a Brexit-vote will be significantly more than a Remain-vote... about 2x as much... 10% down vs 5% up?

From a trading/investing point of view this makes sense right? Or is it just getting late and I just need to go home and have a beer?

UK Central Bank Meet Today May Trigger Selloff In Nifty

Indian Market Outlook:
Bank of England’s monthly monetary policy is scheduled at 4:30pm on Thursday the 16th of June. This meet comes on the heels of the EU referendum which is due on the 23rd of this month. Survey conducted by the top polling bodies suggest that leave voters are ahead of the stay voters paving the way for Britain to exit the Eurozone. Indian markets can open gap down on Friday morning the 17th of June.
The minutes are expected on Friday and due to the Brexit uncertainty markets will remain in a panic mode. Polling will be held between 12:30pm IST on 23rd of June and 3:30 am IST on the 24th of June. Fifty percent of the vote count results is expected to be released at 9am IST on the 24th of June and the final results are expected around 12:30 in the afternoon the same day. Nifty is expected to open gap down at 8180 as per SGX at 8:20 am IST.

International Market Outlook: Global markets are still subdued after the FOMC meet yesterday night where The FED maintained status quo on its policy stance, signaling a gradual process in its rate hike trajectory. Nervousness is expected to stay over the BOE rate decision today and the BREXIT referendum results due next week.

Logarithmic vs Arithmetic Scale - I'm Confused

Hey guys,

I been wondering how relevant a log scale is for the long-term analysis in terms of spotting relevant trendlines that actually must be respected.

Im being indecisive about a short opportunity in ETH (Ethereum) which looks extremely bullish on an arithmetic scale and totally dried out and ambiguous on a logarithmic scale.

I'm using daily and weekly charts to draw pitchforks and spot potential breakout points over key channel support and resistance lines in combination with gann angles and fib speed and resistance fans. Of true truths the direction of a trend of a larger degree seems slurred and indistinct on both scales. I'm seeing a bearish bias on a log scale and the opposite on an arithmetic scale. Which of them is the most relevant for charting in the daily & weekly? Should I disregard the arithmetic scale because logarithmic scale gets capacity to gain more accuracy in this case? I can attach charts & snapshots if needed.

Hedging strategy for EU Referendum trade?

I have been reading a little about hedging strategies. One that seems to have received some criticism is the “buy/sell” strategy of going short on the same pair you are going long on (or vice versa).

I realise you would be paying double on the spread if you do this, but might it work as a hedging tool around a specific time when markets will drastically strengthen or weaken - like next week’s EU referendum next week (provided stop-losses are used)?

For example, I let’s say you go long and short on GBP/USD at the same time, and put stop losses on each sides of the trade.

I realise the increased volatility means stop losses on one (or even both) sides of the trade might get triggered prematurely, so let’s presume we don’t use very high leverage of 200:1 or more to prevent that from happening. Let’s say I use leverage of no more then 50:1.

Provided we believe GBP will either rally or drop significantly in value following the EU referendum vote on June 23rd (something I believe is a pretty sure-bet) surely one of those positions will go on to accrue profits while the other closes out when its stop loss is triggered.

Granted there may well be more than usual slippage in such volatile circumstances - but even if up to 100 pips is lost in slippage (which I would think is a lot even in such circumstances), I’d imagine the number of pips gained from the winning trade should be greater given the exceptional nature of the circumstances.

Now I’m fairly new to forex. I am still using a couple of demo accounts and was thinking of live trading a small sum of money for a couple of months as a next step – so please feel free to rip my little hedging strategy to shreds if it doesn’t make sense, or if I’ve missed something.

Given the extraordinary nature of events that are the UK’s EU referendum, I am tempted to make a larger than normal trade around the referendum, nothing too crazy, maybe something between £1000 - £2000 of my own money.

What do you guys think? Will any of you be trading the news in the run-up to, or after the referendum vote? If my thoughts on hedging could work, would they work with both a Market-Maker and ECN provider, or just ECN?

Thanks!

American Airlines Buy Level On The Charts

American Airlines (NASDAQ:AAL) continues its sharp decline, now trading at $30.00. The stock has been under pressure of late not only because of higher oil prices, but due to fears of slowing economic growth and terrorism.

The stock likely has a little more downside before it hits major support. Look for an important buy level around $28.50. This level should trigger a solid bounce in the stock, i expect it to be around 10-20%. I have posted the stock chart below to help understand the support level.

Cityindex Bogus Data Feed, Beware!

Guys....

After last weeks RBNZ rate decision causing the Kiwi to move north, I would like to draw everyone's attention to CityIndex's and their bogus data feed.

Kindly find attached two images, the first is the data supplied by CityIndex which shows a double green candle, completely different to what actually happened - I would like to know if any of you fellow traders had this issue with them.

What is interesting to me is how clients can rely the statement of "Take advantage of our 30 years’ experience to gain a trading edge" as it is beyond me how this bogus data benefits or gives any client an advantage?

Their data has given clients bogus data, period.

Stock Trade Of The Day

This is from the Verified Investing guys, I think it is pretty good analysis and figured all of you would find some value in it too ...

Valeant Pharmaceuticals Intl Inc (NYSE:VRX) is a pharma company that has been pounded over the last year. In August 2015, Valeant wast trading at $263.00 per share. As of yesterday, the stock closed at $23.78.

The reason Valeant Pharma is being featured as the stock of the day is because the CEO stepped up and bought 202,000 shares at an average price of $24.48. Insider buys, especially the CEO buying is very bullish for a stock as it shows confidence from the top leader of the company. Considering the stock is down over 90% and the CEO is buying a large stake, Valeant (VRX) likely is a good buy.

Hot Stock Of The Day Performance:
Thursday, June 9th: Long VXX featured. You would have profited +30% so far.
Friday, June 10th: Short USO featured. You would have profited +5% so far.
Monday, June 13th, 2016: TWTR featured. You would have profited 3% so far.

Euro 2016

Thought I would start a separate thread. It definitely isn't a family day out when the football hooligans start throwing rocks, bottles and chairs about.

http://ift.tt/1UR5zd9

From reports there were 150+ Russian hooligans rioting and not a single one was caught by the police. Are they blind or under orders I ask ? They did however manage to scrape a few England fans off the tarmac and arrest them.

Snatch squads could have rounded up dozens of rioters and put them away for the tournament at least in my opinion. Only a matter of time before someone is killed otherwise.

Microsoft buying LinkedIn for $ 26.2 billion

Unforeseen and stunning news in the world of "Mergers and Acquisitions": Microsoft announced that it acquires a social network to search for business contacts LinkedIn, for $26.2 billion - 196 dollars per share. The total number of users of social network is about 433 million. Purchase has already been approved and confirmed by both companies.

The price of 196 dollars per share is much higher than the real value of the shares on the stock exchange at the close on Friday (June 10) the price fluctuated at the level of 131.08 dollars per share.

LinkedIn remains the same social network as before, but this time under the direction and as part of Microsoft's business. Director General of LinkedIn Jeff Weiner will report to Satya Nadella.

The merger of major brands is beneficial to both parties.
For Microsoft it's part of the missing puzzle in the strategy of businesses and services. Now the company is engaged in software engineering and a small investment in the production of mobile phones. LinkedIn will greatly expand the audience of users both from view social networking as well as in terms of professional content, in particular, help to develop the production and sale of communication tools through the acquisition of Yammer. This will be a potential sales channel for existing products which will integrate communication services.

Nadella informed that the interaction of LinkedIn, Microsoft Office 365 and Dynamics will provide comprehensive data services growth. LinkedIn will have a very large number of possibilities, given the scale of the Microsoft software development and this will greatly enhance the competitive position.

It is planned to realize the synergy of cloud services software maker and the existing network communication social network. This should improve the way people interact and will expand the functionality.

Although LinkedIn is now going through hard times and the current share price is significantly below the maximum of the last 12 months - 258 dollars per share, the company still remains the best technology company on the stock market.

Microsoft has never been a successful company, if we consider it from the point of view of social networking, even though a large amount of investment in Facebook, a social network before it began an IPO. But buying LinkedIn can change everything and create a new competitor in the social networking market.

Active LinkedIn audience of 105 million people a month, all registered about 433 million. Locations totals 200 countries. About 60% of the traffic is mobile, and the number of pages viewed a site in the quarter is an incredible 45 billion.

Microsoft has reported that its shares fell more than 3% in recent trading and at some point reached in the assessed value of 49.92 dollars per share.
LinkedIn shares showed growth parameters up to 47% and stopped at setting 193 dollar per share during trading data.

Interesting, that it is a turning point in the world of finance and investment. The cost of shares of the company LinkedIn, rose by $62 per share (an increase of ~ 45%). Those who had inside information, were able to make a fortune on such a large jump.

And what do you think about this purchase?

LinkedIn aquisition by Microsoft and spreadbet positions

So heres an interesting one or (maybe not) I hold LinkedIn stock through a spreadbet platform. As some of you may know LinkedIn has been aquired by Microsoft today and the stock is up 46%. I also hold physical stock and normally when this happens my holdings get converted to the stock of whatever company it had been bought out by. My question is what happens on a spreadbet platform in this situation? Will it just eventually change to a position in Microsoft?

Edit: this was meant to go in the spreadbet section, too late now it seems to change that

UK broker for US stocks and CDIs

I would like to trade mostly US stocks and I am looking for a UK broker to do that.
I know that sharecentre (share.com) allows the trading of US stocks via CREST Depositary Instruments (CDIs).
I am not familiar with CDIs, and if I understood correctly, using CDIs means not being a direct owner of the shares. I would like to own the stocks for a long period (years maybe) and I am not sure if using CDIs is a good idea?

Also do you know UK brokers which allow a direct ownership of the stocks (no CDIs) ?

Thanks a lot!

Bitcoin exchange rate overcame 2-year high

On the night of June 13 Bitcoin exchange rate broke through the level of $680 per Bitcoin and was at the maximum of $683.89 on the basis of trading in Hong Kong. According to the agency Bloomberg, the exchange rate struck Bitcoins with up to February 2014 against the background of the Chinese stock market downturn, weakening of the yuan and expectations of Fed actions.

According to OKCoin strategy Director Jack Lew, Bitcoin growth rate contributed to a growing interest on the part of venture capitalists and technology blockchain rise in popularity worldwide. "In a broad sense, we continue to watch the hype around blockchain that promotes the growth of interest in Bitcoins as an asset," - said Liu.

The rising cost of Bitcoin also comes amid a downturn in growth in the Chinese economy. According to official statistics, the volume of industrial production increased in May 2016 by 6% to May of last year. Investments in fixed assets increased in the first 5 months of this year by 9.6%, which was also lower than market expectations.

"Every time we see a weakening of the yuan, we see capital outflows increase, and as a result gain Bitcoin from this situation", - told Bloomberg head of product management ANX International Rabaglia Ryan.

Brexit Rocks International Markets

Indian Market Outlook:
The Indian Markets are slated to open gap down by 70 points at 8125, as SGX Nifty at 8.43 am. This indicates the panic which will also affect our Markets. The FII & Pro combined have sold above 100000 options in the past 3 trading sessions. If the Markets trade below the low of 8150, which is 2 weeks low, the short term trend will turn to sell.

International Market Outlook:
International Markets have collapsed as many as 3 surveys are indicating a higher probability of BREXIT. The Markets in the past few days had believed that the “Remain” campaign of the BREXIT would prevail over the “Leave” campaign. The latest Polls have come with a rude shock and the GBP/USD collapsed downwards by 150 ticks, which is an average one day movement, in 15 mins. This nervousness is bound to continue till 23rd June, when the Referendum takes place. Dax has touched its one month low falling 500 points in the past one week. The Asian Markets are reflecting this mood this morning.

Harmonics - forex trader

Hi Guys,

I'm Uros - FX trader, programmer, engineer and entrepreneur. I tend to focus on trading the majors however had quite a bit of luck with a few interesting pairs such as the USDTRY and AUDNZD.

I recently started up a new tech business involving in providing Forex signals. The project is very different than anything you've probably seen before. For the past nearly two years I have been working on a 'AI' like system to detect changes in the markets.

If anyone is interested in finding out more about the project please check out: www.efxone.com

Now that the project is released out of beta I do have more time to post content online and on my twitter page.

I will include recent analysis on the CHFJPY here in case anyone missed it from an earlier post I did. I'm shorting this - keeping an eye on a key level: 111.480 - In case the 4h candle closes above, huge sign of a market turning point to the upside!

I will try to contribute regular analysis on here! I'm massively into market harmonics, swing trading and pattern based trading.

Looking forward in connecting with some of you soon! :cheesy:

Lots of love,
Uros

Adaptive Forex analytics

Hi Guys,

I hope I'm posting this in the right section!

My name is Uros - for the past 16 months I have been working on an 'adaptive' trading system that looks at behaviour patterns to assess true market conditions on major currency pairs. I have had consultants and professional traders from time to time, assess key features and aid with development.

Now once the condition has been assessed, the result gets routed through our 4 main algorithms. This is where the fun really begins!

Some of the algorithms may be shut down if the conditions do not meet the requirements for that trading style. This also acts as a filter to boost win-rates.

What we did is put together well known and proven professional trading strategies into one system. The algorithms look at the following:

- Trend continuation trading supported by Ichimoku cloud, momentum (multi-resolution), price action and various volume/volatility calculations as confirmation.

- Reversal detection via order flow and various supporting modules.

- Harmonic trading, including Swing Trading, Wave analysis and short term pullbacks of a trend.

- Mid-term analysis via Fibonacci retracement, dynamic ranges and filtered via price action. What we mean by ‘dynamic ranges’ are certain pre-determined daily ranges that if an asset breaks, we called this an ‘action zone’ and look for either a breakout continuation trade or a reversal.

For a visual representation of how they all work together, please check out this flow chart: http://ift.tt/1U2IHI1

We have only recently concluded beta testing averaging exactly 72.24% win-rate over the course of the last 8 months (latest stable builds)

The full project and additional information can be found here: http://efxone.com

What do you think of this guys? Any thoughts, interests, questions?

Please also feel free to check out our twitter: http://www.twitter.com/efx_one

I will be posting frequent updates, results and personal daily market analysis.

I look forward in connecting with a few of you and causing some damage on the markets!

All the best,
Uros

Advantages of trading forex via a company?

I have been researching forex and am thinking of trading via a Ltd company.

I understand that as a UK resident this is more advantageous in terms of tax, as I could draw dividends after paying corporation tax on any profits.

Any possible downsides?

I am thinking of opening up a trading account in the name of my existing personal contractor company.

Thanks!
