Do you believe in ghosts? Police in New Mexico believe surveillance camera captured*one!
(CNN) Police in Espanola, New Mexico are catching more than just criminals! Mysterious images have shown up on surveillance cameras at the police department. Could they be ghosts?!
It started out as a pretty typical night for Espanola police officer Karl Romero. He was on duty keeping an eye on the surveillance cameras around the station when he saw something in the sally port.
At first I thought it was a podilla, a fly or moth. Then I saw the legs and it was a human but not a real human. No. A ghost, Romero said.
Romero reported it to his supervisors. Detectives who reviewed the surveillance camera footage say theres no way in or out of the secured gate without an open gate and an alarm sounding.
It walks through the old transport cages. Theres not a way for it to get through but it walks through that, Detective Solomon Romero said.
Detectives say theres no logical explanation for this. They say theres no issue with the lighting, and its not a technical glitch.
As it turns out, there are a lot of ghost stories around the department.
A lot of officers have seen certain things. Some officers have felt someone breathing down their necks as theyre working in the briefing room, Detective Solomon Romero said.
Police officers at the station have also reported hearing strange noises in the middle of the night, and seeing unexplainable images in the lobby area.
Espanola police say as far as they know, the station isnt on an ancient burial ground. The department has been at its current location since 2006. No inmates have died at the station.
Police do say there have been some unsolved murders that have occurred nearby.
